I just got back from our live offline draft and was curious what you all think of it.

8 team yahoo fantasy baseball PLUS league, head-to-head one win, with the following categories:
Hitters:
R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, k's against

Pitchers:
W, K, SV, ERA, WHIP, HR's against

Positions:
C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 3 OF's, 2 Util, 2 SP, 2 RP, 3 P, 5 Bench, and 3 DL

My draft position was 8 in a snake draft so I was always drafting two at a time:

Round 1: Hanley Ramirez - SS
Round 2: David Wright - 3B
Round 3: Carlos Lee - OF
Round 4: Carl Crawford - OF
Round 5: Roy Oswalt - SP
Round 6: Joe Nathan - RP
Round 7: Lance Berkman - 1B
Round 8: Yovani Gallardo - SP
Round 9: Nick Markakis - OF
Round 10: Chone Figgins - UTIL
Round 11: Aaron Harang - SP
Round 12: Francisco Cordero - RP
Round 13: Adrian Gonzalez - UTIL (1B)
Round 14: Pedro Martinez - SP
Round 15: Ian Kinsler - 2B
Round 16: Matt Capps - P (RP)
Round 17: Curtis Granderson - BN (OF) DL
Round 18: Mike Lowell - BN (3B)
Round 19: Billy Butler - BN (Util)
Round 20: Willy Taveras - BN (OF)
Round 21: Ryan Doumit - C
Round 22: Tony Pena - BN (RP)

Thanks!

8 teams, both leagues? Does it mater who you drafted really, it seems that whomever's All-Stars do better this year will win.

Thank you, but I do not agree and do not appreciate the dismissal of the inquiry.

Anyone else? I am seeking substantive comments on the draft. Thanks.

Well, here is my take on it. You went good the first couple of rounds, but Gallardo should not have been touched that early in an 8 team league. Pedro, Kinsler, Butler, Taveras, Doumit and Pena are just a few that I see that have no spot on an 8 team league. You could most likely do better on the waiver wire right now than Pedro. In an 8 team league you cant take huge chances with players like Gallardo and Pedro and Doumit. These guys will be available on the waiver wire. I think I did OK in my 8 team draft, I had the seventh pick and here is my roster and order of pick.

1. (7) David Wright 3B
2. (10) Johan Santana SP
3. (23) Brandon Phillips 2B
4. (26) David Ortiz 1B
5. (39) Jonathan Papelbon RP
6. (42) Troy Tulowitzki SS
7. (55) Chris Young OF
8. (5Cool Francisco Rodríguez RP
9. (71) Corey Hart OF
10. (74) Tim Lincecum SP
11. (87) Derrek Lee 1B
12. (90) Nick Markakis OF
13. (103) Francisco Liriano SP
14. (106) Billy Wagner RP
15. (119) John Maine SP
16. (122) Jered Weaver SP
17. (135) George Sherrill RP
18. (138) Shane Victorino OF
19. (151) Rafael Furcal SS
20. (154) Kenji Johjima C
21. (167) Kerry Wood RP
22. (170) Bronson Arroyo SP
23. (183) Adam Wainwright SP
24. (186) Greg Maddux SP

So sorry, what exactly were you looking for a pat on the back?? Its hard to give a critique of a team with 8 teams in the league, I could have been absent from the draft with pre-rankings and got a similar team to yours. You want a "substantive" reply, play in a "substantive" league.

Actually now that you mention it, the following picks were lousy in an 8 team draft:

Round 14: Pedro Martinez - SP
Round 21: Ryan Doumit - C
Round 8: Yovani Gallardo - SP

Thought I would check in during the AS break. Turns out my Kinsler and Doumit picks were gems, although they were not thought highly of here.

With Gallardo going down and Harang total garbage, my pitching staff suffered in the first half, and I did go on a 5 game losing streak as my pitching couldn't keep up. But eventually I revamped through free agency and trades (rotation is totally new, nobody I drafted) and this is my team now, whose records stands at 7-7-1, 5th in the league. What do you guys think?

Lineup
C Doumit
1B A. Gonzalez
2B Kinsler
3B Wright
SS Barmes (Tulowitski DL)
OF Carlos Lee
OF Crawford
OF Markakis
Util Morneau
Util Lowell
BN Granderson
BN Figgins

Pitching Staff
SP Volquez (Free agent pickup right after lost waiver claim for Cueto, thank god)
SP Duchscherer (FA pickup after he was streamed by another GM)
RP Nathan
RP F. Cordero
P Broxton (Added him as soon as Saito was hurt)
P Marte (Added him as soon as Capps went down)
P Kobayashi (added him when rumors re: Borowski were flying)
BN Lincecum (Trade)
BN Hamels (Trade)
BN Sheets (Trade)
BN Mussina (FA)

The other pitchers are "bench," but we have daily lineups so I plug them in when they start.

Here's the trades I pulled off:

On May 30, I sent Berkman to another GM for Ben Sheets and Justin Morneau.

On June 23, I sent Hanley Ramirez and Brian Fuentes to another GM for Tim Lincecum and Cole Hamels.

Thoughts anyone? Do I have enough for a big run in this league? Thanks a million guys.
