I know there is a derth of information available on the web for Roto baseball, but it's always fun to have a magazine or two to flip through and take to your draft. So what have all of you found to be the best mag out there?

I know it isn't technically a roto mag, but I'm ususally pretty happy with the Sporting News baseball preview edition and the Sports Illustrated preview edition. They give depth charts, projected stats and rankings, projected batting orders, and a good picture of what happened over the offseason for the teams.

And we have all that here and on CBS - between the two, you have all of the info - why pay for a mag? Just a Security Blanket?

I'd say if you invest your money in any publication, lay your money on Ron Shandler's Baseball Forecaster 2004.

I enjoy the magazines mostly for the articles. The RotoTimes mag that just came out is pretty good. It's mostly bathroom reading.

They also make good decoys at the draft table.

I kind of like Lindy's fantasy baseball...it's enough to guide me but not too much to overwhelm me.

Fantasy Baseball Guide is very good. I have read mags from all sources through the years and it is near the top. Lots of contributors: Alex Patton, Jason Grey (mastersball), Pete Kreutzer (ask rotoman), LawrMichaels and others.

Fantasy Sports Magazine covers baseball football and basketball. It usually has two Baseball editions. The subscription rate is not bad. Check it out WWW.FANTASYSPORTSMAG.COM

I just would like to put in my two cents and tell you that you have no clue what you are doing!

I can't believe you people actaully do this, man your horrible!

I'm assuming that if you were drafting you take the next best player available acourding to your ranks. So your telling me that you would take TrotNixon over SlamminSammy Sosa I don't think so.Your telling me that you would take Kaz Matsui over DerikJeter andOrlando Cabrera I don't think so.Your telling me that you would take Derric Lee andDavid Ortiz over JimThome I don't think so!

Well I think my point is made here.

Change your damn ranks you faggets!!!!!!

Well, Waldo it's nice of you to stop by.

Apart from your exceptionally crass attitude and rude language, the thing that offends me the most about your post is you total lack of understanding of the Rankings. The projections are an estimate of the players relative value defined in $ terms to be used as a tool in an auction draft. There is no inferrence in those numbers that says that in a regular draft anyone should take Derek Lee orDavid Ortiz before JimThome In an auction where you are budgeting there can be an argument made to do just that.

One other small factor is that there are some situations in these rankings where many players are given the same $ value and though the number assigned to them is lower they are in fact on a par with all players valued at the same price.

If you choose to post again please refain from the Language and offensive attitude. This is a friendly board and I for one would like to keep it so.

Well, Waldo, I think that you misinterpret how to use those rankings and if you need some rankings to tell you in what postion to draft ANY players than you are underinformed and should do a little studying and figuring to figure that out yourself...we do not use those ranking to draft our players, per se, but, to utilize them to see their value in the cats and stats, of each and the scaricity it the position may have a little to do with it also (when you draft) --- so, try to comprehend, what you are reading and how it is done, (you can ask somebody) and maybe you won't have to be so offensive and rude as to say more misinformed crap --- good luck this season

Limey and FIREDUP handled this pretty well, so I'm just going to reiterate that we do ask for you to respect others on this board, which includes refraining from calling other memebers names such as you did.

I'm not sure if that message was directed at the members or us founders, but if either discontinue it or we'll discontinue your access to our site.

That said, if it was aimed at us founders, we always welcome questions regarding our projections when/if asked in a respectful manner.
