Trade Question

I am in a 10 team roto league

I have been offered Brandon Webb and Bobby Abreu for Matt Holliday. Would like your thoughts.

I am pretty strong in offense with 10 (HR), 9(avg), 8(R), 8(rbi), 7(sb) and little light in Ks, ERA, WHIP and am only one win ahead of 3 other teams. I have CC so its conceivable i get an ace pitcher soon enough.

As much as I love Holliday, I see no reason why not to make this trade Webb has been terrific and there are no signs of him slowing down from his current pace. Abreu is a good enough OF to plug in there in place of Holliday.

I consider Abreu a big step down from Holliday. It's tempting but i dont think i would pull the trigger on this one. HR are worth the most points and Holliday will get about 10-15 more than Abreu, that adds up to 150 pt and his avg. will be far better too along with everything else. Avg. and HR are worth the most in your league and Holliday is far superior to abreu in all stats except the one worth the least. Your staff will come around. Don't panic, because some bottom dwellers are getting lucky. I wouldnt do this trade.

I would do it, in a flash.
You will have a killer pitching staff, and Abreu is a fair replacement in OF...

I am currently in 2nd.

The problem is that Abreu doesn't seem to be running nearly as much as he used to, nor is his power what it was.

I do agree though that my staff will be dominant with Webb, assuming CC figures it out.

What are the pitchings stats worth? Are the hitting stats worth more? If you generally get more points from hitters than pitchers, i definitely wouldnt do this trade.

Its a 5x5 roto league so its a ranking of the 10 categories

If CC was pitching like CC from the get go there's no way in hell you'd even consider doing this because your overall pitching numbers would be far better than what they are currently. In the long run, I think you're going to need Holliday's offensive numbers, mainly BA, because a few of those hitters (Molina, Encarnacion, Young, Konerko and Burrell) will drain your overall team average.

I'd pass on this deal. Also, I'd cut a handful of those players and pick up some decent starters if there are any available on the free agent list.

Thx, for all your help. Turned it down, which is what i was thinking to begin with.
